Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Just went out to take the girls some butternut squash guts and discovered our first egg from our baby flock! We used to have older girls but since replacing them with the babies we've had a serious egg drought. I'm so excited!!!! We put lights in the coop this past weekend... might be a coincidence but maybe not? I think our Mottled Houdan, Bissous laid it given the amount of racket she's been making this week. I lent my camera to someone and my phone is broken so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Congratulations, what a pretty bird! Since we upped the light to 16 hours about a week ago, our productiton has increased too, and I think the Silver Dorkey has just now started laying. The eggs are different, much smaller (see picture). These are the 3 eggs we got today (from 4 hens).

definitely nice to have some again!
We got another one today and it looks different from the first so I think we have two laying now. They were none too impressed with the cold white stuff on the ground today! Ann's Dorkings have been laying for a little while now too. Can you post a picture of yours? Ann's have gotten so beautiful. Would love to see your girl too!
