Volunteer with Village Vancouver - over 75 ways you can help build a more resilient Vancouver!

Village Vancouver is a volunteer-driven organization, so if you want to change the world, roll up your sleeves and volunteer with us! There are dozens of ways to participate, with new opportunities arising all the time. Please fill out our Volunteer Interest Form or send an email to admin@villagevancouver.org.

Current priorities: tabling, gardening, making seed packets, recycling depot

1. Administrative Assistant: We're seeking someone who can devote 4 (or more) hours/week to help with administrative tasks.
   
2. Newsletter Editors: Join our Newsletter Team and help produce our newsletter. Perfect for aspiring journalists and aspiring media barons!
3. Tablers: Help promote Village when we table or have a booth (at various times of the year - mostly during Spring and Summer - at various locations). 
4. Event Promoter (Outreach Working Group): Coordinate the posting of VV events in the Georgia Straight, West Ender, Courier, and other media outlets.
   
5. Social Media Promoter (Outreach Working Group): Help with our social media outreach.
6. Videographer: Make videos of events for VVTV and post them to this site. At some point, we'd also like to make our own In Transition Vancouver video.
7. Slideshow Artist: Make topical slideshows about VV using the incredible collection of photos on this site.
   
8. Mailing List Manager (Outreach Working Group): Help manage our email lists. Skills: data entry and familiarity with Mail Chimp.
   
9. Administrative Working Group Member: We're looking for folks to help with admin tasks for 3-5 hours/month.
   
10. Group and Village Coordinators/Core Group Members: Help coordinate a village or group and engage fellow Villagers and community members.
11. Main St. Village is looking for a couple more people to join its' Core Group.
12. East Van Village is looking for a couple more people to join its' Core Group.
13. Join a Community or Collaborative Garden/Help w/other Urban Ag Initiatives: Get involved with a VV garden or other growing project. All levels of experience welcome.
    
14. Help with a Permaculture Project: Get involved with a VV Permaculture project. All levels of experience welcome.
15. VV's Permaculture and other Plots at Cottonwood Community Garden is looking for a couple new participants. No experience necessary. 
    
16. Seed Librarians: Help maintain our growing collection of seed libraries and keep them well-stocked.
17. Kits Village Plastic Recycling Depot Volunteer: Help with our monthly depot 1 hour/month.
18. Host a Drop-in Spaghetti Night: Help introduce neighbours to one another over a meal. Hosts are eligible to receive $5/person to cover the costs of the food. (Some geographical restrictions apply.)
    
19. VV Car Free Day Demo Village (17 June, 2018): Join other volunteers working with organizer Ross to create a huge VV Community Village at the Main St. Car Free Day Festival in June 2018. Planning, creating dislays, etc. starting in March, and day of. 
20. VV Booth with West End Neighbourhood Food Network at West End Car Free Day (16 June, 2018): Planning, creating displays, staffing.
21. Neighbour Savour IX (October 2018): Help with outreach, planning, etc. before (June-Oct) and with setup, tabling, food scraps/recycling station, cleaning, breakdown, etc. at our annual zero waste community potluck. 
22. Start a new project: Do you have a project in mind that you'd like to do through Village? Let's talk about it.
    
23. Run for the Village Vancouver Transition Society Board of Directors. Our 2017 AGM is on November 26th. For more info, please contact VVTS President (agm.vvts@gmail.com).
24. McBride Park Community Garden: Help start our new community garden.
25. Strathcona Park Field House: Help out at our Food and Gardening Fieldhouse office.
26. Seed Savers Club: Help develop seed saving materials.
27. Seed Packet Parties: Help create seed packets for our  seed libraries.
28. Grant Writers: Help our Grant Writing Team write grant applications.
29. Kits Village Collaborative Garden: Garden with us.
30. Aberthau Community and Eco Art Garden (Aberthau Garden Project): garden at our Permaculture garden with us, help organize our Open House (April 2018), Harvest Celebration (September 2018),  as well as workshopsand other activties.
31. Green Streets Garden: Garden with us.
32. Minute Taker: Help with minute taking at Board and other meetings.
33. Westside Food Festival (July 2018): Help with planning, promoting, onsite, reporting and other related tasks before, during, and after the festival.
34. Teach a Workshop: We're always interested in adding new workshops/new topics.
35. West End Village Community Potlucks and Workshops: Help organize and promote, and with setup/cleanup day of.
36. VV Meetups: Help organize and promote.
37. VV Activists: Help organize and promote.
38. Marpole-Oakridge Neighbourhood Food Network: Help organize and promote.
39. Permacuture Vancouver: Help organize workshops tpoics and promote,  and assist at monthly Meetups.

48. Buying Club: We're interested in starting a bulk food buying club,

Outreach Team: Help promote Village Vancouver through social and print media, at fairs and festivals, via the newsletter, and elsewhere; post events on the website, help maintain the mailing list, help organize our Demo Sustainable Village at Main St. Car Free Day and our annual Neighbour Savour community potluck
