There is an apple tree in our 'Hood in desperate need of mouths to feed. Once part of a large orchard, it now stands in Celia Brauer's yard near Ontario @ 22nd Ave. Email for address, or look on the Main Street Neighbourhood Home page, if you are a member of that Village.
Tomorrow (Saturday Nov 13th) at 3:00 PM, ladders, poles, and glass jars plus hot apple cider, cheese, and crackers will converge on Celia's house for a food preservation and sharing party. Come help gather apples, cut them up, cook them down, and go home with some Zero Mile, Zero Carbon heritage natural apple sauce.
Community, a little bit of exercise, snacks, and preserved food for what's expected to be a long, cold winter...life doesn't get better.
No RSVP necessary. Just stop by between 3:00 and 4:30.
