Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
Showing off what Vancouver does so well and learning from others far away is a great exchange of gifts. Please respond to this opportunity to connect with a visitor to Vancouver October 19th and 20th (Friday or Saturday). Here is her note:

Greetings!
I have a request: I'm trying to identify someone who knows their way around Vancouver pretty well, is into sustainability and Permaculture-ish urban gardening, and would be available (like a student or free-lancer) on Friday and/or Saturday (Oct. 19/20) to drive me to some sites. I'd be happy to pay someone $20 an hour plus gas money to pick me up at my hotel downtown and show me around.
I'll be at a conference with my husband, and since I've never been to Vancouver, I want to learn as much as I can so that I can bring it back to Nashville. Our family helped get an ordinance that passed last January in Nashville to allow backyard hens. We have six egg-laying hens and numerous perennial fruit and nut trees/shrubs/vines in our mid-town yard. We also won awards for a very green home renovation that was completed a couple of years ago. I'm eager to see a variety of urban homestead examples that I can pick up tips from. (Nashville is way behind Vancouver in these kinds of efforts)
In addition to Permaculture-ish sites, I'm really interested in going on the Laneway Housing tour on Saturday afternoon on the 19th in Kitsilano/Mt. Pleasant. For more information: http://www.vancouverheritagefoundation.org/projects/laneway.html
I'm easy-going and am pretty good company! See more about me at www.facebook.com/LittleHouseNashville and www.linkedin.com/in/JaneHardy
Please forward this note to anyone who might be interested in my proposal.
Thank you!,
Jane
