New community garden planned at 29th ave Station


The first initial meeting was a great success. Below is some more info regarding the garden

March 26th - Registration day & 2nd meeting POTLUCK, 2 to 5pm, Place to be determined
Registration on that day is mandatory for all gardeners. This is everybody's chance to meet everybody and connect with your future fellow gardeners! If you really cannot come on March 26th, please send someone to register and pay for you (annual $15 membership plus $5 per plot).
That will be the time to continue the discussions started on March 6th, and for new gardeners to catch up on what we have been talking about!
And to make it even better, let's make a potluck out if it! You are invited to bring a light dish to share with others and show us your extraordinary culinary talents :) Believe me, you don't want to miss it!!
Every work party will most likely include caring and cleaning for the garden, while this is also opportunity to host workshops (on beekeeping, planting, composting, etc), to organize activities, and to connect with each others!

June 25th - Solstice party!
July 30th - Work party
August 27th - Work party
September 24th - Harvest Party - or participation on the Ravine's moon festival (date might changed)

It is expected that every gardener will contribute volunteer hours for a minimum of 3 meetings/work parties during the season, plus the Fall AGM. Please refer to the membership agreement attached.

It is difficult to summarize in an email all the rich conversations we had last night. The discussions lead us to an agreement on 40 plots for the garden, all of them 3' by 12' long (2 plots being side by side, so 6' by 12' shared equally between 2 gardeners), having a common area, a shed and a compost area. Everyone was very excited about the project of bringing a beehive in the garden, which we'll work to realize!

We'll summarize the conversations as an introduction to our next meeting on March 26th, at 2pm.
