Greenest City Neighbourhood Small Grants: Urban Food Projects.

The deadline is Aug 21th  for Little Mountain and Mount Pleasant, (and possibly Renfrew Collingwood but I have not been able to confirm that).

Receive a grant for up to $500 towards any project that has a food focus. For example building food gardens or garden plots, educational workshops (ie: canning, cooking) Workbooks, cookbooks manuals related to food).

Some ideas already discussed: Varouj mentioned that there is a wide area along his street which would be great for a garden. Randy is interested in having a local food neighbourhood potluck at Heritage Hall on

Main Street and to advertise the dinner widely in our community. I will likely
be applying for a grant related to Backyard beekeeping. Holding a canning
workshop, was another idea. If anyone wants to meet to brainstorm ideas or to
be involved in any of the aforementioned ideas please let me know. I was told
by the director at Mount Pleasant that projects are more likely to be funded if
they involve a number of people from the neighbourhood.  The application form is the same form used
for the small community grants last April:

Name of Applicant

Address,               postal code,      phone,           email

How many people will help organize this project?
