I would like to invite you to be a part of a climate circle based on Guy Dauncey's book The Climate Challenge. I've received a small grant from Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House for this, and have used part of it to buy a dozen copies of the book. I hope we can get representatives from a dozen Cedar Cottage families involved in the circle.
The circle involves discussing and committing to individual and family actions we can do to reduce our climate impacts in a different area each week. I'd like to think of it more as a book club than a course, in the sense that all of us should feel welcome to contribute to the discussion. I am more and more convinced that we need to approach the climate/peak oil challenges, firstly, by taking personal actions; and secondly, by sharing resources, insights and skills -- none of us can solve these problems alone.
I'm planning this circle for 7 Tuesday evenings, 7:30-- 9:30, in May and June, with topics as follows:
May 11 -- meet and plan;
May 18 -- "Food"
May 25 -- no meeting (I'm away)
June 1 -- "Electricity"
June 8 -- "Keeping Warm and Keeping Cool"
June 15 -- "Transportation"
June 22 -- "Everything Else"
June 29 -- "Community Action", celebration planning
