DESCRIPTION:Join Women Transforming Cities, Vancouver District Labour 
 Council’s Women’s Committee, and Britannia Community Centre to tal
 k about how we can change our city so that it works for all of us. Thi
 s is the eighth in a series of monthly café events.\nParticipants can
  join round-table discussions in English, Mandarin and Spanish. Admiss
 ion is free. For assistance with child care costs, please call Ingrid 
 at 604-253-5927. Snacks & refreshments will be provided. Everyone is w
 elcome!\n\nSpeakers include:\nGillian Creese – Professor in the Depa
 rtment of Sociology at the University of BC. Her research interests in
 clude migration, racialization and gender; equity issues in work and t
 rade unions; and feminist research methods.\n\nJoey Hartman – Presid
 ent of the Vancouver and District Labour Council. She became active in
  the labour movement during a 14 week civic strike in 1981 that achiev
 ed some redress on pay equity issues.\n\nNadine Chambers – Coordinat
 or, Women’s Center, Simon Fraser Student Society. She has served on 
 numerous non-profit Community boards such as the Black AIDS Network an
 d Vancouver Status of Women. Her grandparents’ philosophy of ‘lear
 n something new every day’ guides her while contemplating both the o
 ld and the new forms of social structures and power in these unceded C
