SUMMARY:*Winter Kraut Making
DESCRIPTION:Village Vancouver presents Winter Kraut Making. Learn how
to make your own traditional, fermented vegetables using seasonal, loc
al, organic produce. Fermented vegetables have many health benefits, i
ncluding live enzymes, readily available vitamins and minerals, and pr
obiotics -- and sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables are RAW, VEG
AN, and suitable for Paleo diets. If possible, each person should brin
g a large knife, cutting board, large bowl, cheese grater and one lite
r-size wide-mouth mason jar with lid, and you're also welcome to bring
veggies from your own garden to ferment. Workshop fee includes cost o
f produce and participants will go home with a jar of kraut to ferment
at home, which should be ready to eat in about two weeks.VV will have
a seed library present - if you come a little early, you can get some
free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds.\nFee: $15 fo
 r workshop + $5 for materials. Maximum 12 participants. Pre-register b
y March 11th, so we know how much produce to bring for the workshop.\n
50% Subsidies on the non-materials portion ($15) of the workshop fe
e are available to low income residents of Vancouver with a Leisure Ac
cess Card. For details on how to apply, please contact Strathcona CC o
