DESCRIPTION:The year was 1982. Against the backdrop of the escalating 
 nuclear arms race, 170 different groups cooperated to create Vancouver
 's first Walk for Peace. 35,000 people gathered that first year, then 
 65,000 in 1983, and by 1984 it was 100,000. We gathered at Kitsilano B
 each forming a river of people that poured over Burrard Bridge to a co
 ncert stage at Sunset Beach. It was magnificent.\nNow it's 2012, the 3
 0th anniversary: time for all of us, together.\nSaturday, June 30, gat
 her at noon at Kits Beach [exact location TBA] to walk across the Burr
 ard Street Bridge to Sunset Beach in the West End. Celebration at Suns
 et Beach featuring music, speakers, and food to begin at 2 p.m.\nThis
