SUMMARY:VV workshop: Seed Saving in the City with Robin Wheeler
DESCRIPTION:Seed saving is the missing link in food security.\n\nIn ou
 r current climate of seed patenting and ownership, it is important tha
 t we have a collective of trained individuals in place should we ever 
 need to draw on their skills. We will talk about the politics of seed 
 saving, learn basic seed saving skills, and discuss the creation of co
 llectives throughout Vancouver both for convenience as well as emergen
 cy preparedness. Your donation includes a copy of The Five Levels of S
 eed Saving by Terry Klokeid.\n\nAll workshops are offered on a pay wha
 t you can basis. A 1 1/2 hour seed workshop (with booklet) usually cos
 ts around $20; the 2 hour workshops $25 to $30, and the three hour wor
 kshops around $40. Our contributions to these workshops make it possib
 le for teachers like Robin to expand and to deepen the scope of the im
 portant educational and social change work that they are involved in, 
 particularly in these uncertain times.\n\nTo register or to find out m

 Vancouver's food networking get togethers with Robin Wheeler and other
 s are community based gatherings which help participants connect with 
 others who share a desire to engage around food and sustainability on 
 a neighbourhood level.\n\nThese workshops are part of an ongoing VV se
 ries designed to help individuals, neighbourhoods, and communties lear
 n how to live well using substantially less fossil fuels. In 2009, we 
 offered approximately 40 workshops. In 2010, topics are expected to in
 clude gardening, seed saving, energy reduction, community building, be
 ekeeping, composting, food preservation, neighbourhood food networks,
