SUMMARY:VV workshop: Intensive Urban Microfarming with Robin Wheeler
DESCRIPTION:Getting the most out of a normal urbab garden can take ima
gination. This class assists us to boost production through a deeper u
nderstanding of microclimating, and of lateral growing, food cycles, s
uccession planting, \"shoulder\" cropping and much more.\n\nAll worksh
ops are offered on a pay what you can basis. A 1 1/2 hour seed worksho
p (with booklet) usually costs around $20; the 2 hour workshops $25 to
$30, and the three hour workshops around $40. Our contributions to th
ese workshops make it possible for teachers like Robin to expand and t
o deepen the scope of the important educational and social change work
that they are involved in, particularly in these uncertain times.\n\n
To register or to find out more about hosting a future workshop, pleas
e contact Ross at rmoster@flash.net. (Enrolment is limited to 15 peopl
e per workshop.)\n\nVillage Vancouver's food networking get togethers
with Robin Wheeler and others are community based gatherings which hel
p participants connect with others who share a desire to engage around
food and sustainability on a neighbourhood level.\n\nThese workshops
are part of an ongoing VV series designed to help individuals, neighbo
urhoods, and communties learn how to live well using substantially les
s fossil fuels. In 2009, we offered approximately 40 workshops. In 201
0, topics are expected to include gardening, seed saving, energy reduc
tion, community building, beekeeping, composting, food preservation, n
eighbourhood food networks, and backyard chickens.\n\nFor more informa
