 ently opened up invitations for interested parties to become Society m
 embers.\nThe worldwide Transition Movement, of which we're a proud mem
 ber, has spread like wildfire, and currently includes over 950 initiat
 ives in more than 30 countries, from Brazilian favelas to Italian vill
 ages to city and region-wide hubs.\nFocusing on inspiring positive act
 ions that build resilient and sustainable communities, we've evolved i
 nto one of the largest and most active Transition initiatives on the p
 lanet, with thousands of members and upwards of 250-300 activities a y
 ear.\nAs the official Transition Hub for metropolitan Vancouver, we've
  accomplished a lot in just a few years, including:\n\nGrowing with lo
 cal and international Transition Movements\nHolding workshops, gatheri
 ngs and playing a leading role in helping thousands acquire new skills
  in events such as Transition School (now in its 5th year) at Langara 
 College's Sustainable Communities Summer School\nWidespread recognitio
 n as a leader in the sustainable food movement including Neighbourhood
  Food Networks, Beekeeping, Seed Saving, Gardening and Backyard Chicke
 n Networks\nInitiating work on FED-AP - a Food Community Resiliency Pl
 an, promoting urban farming and agriculture, community gardens and com
 ing together to celebrate food and build community\nWorking to create 
 vibrant local economies including a community currency, greater commun
 ity connectivity and self-reliance, more energy reduction and less dep
 endence on fossil fuels\nDeveloping neighbourhood emergency preparedne
 ss, in coordination with city emergency services, to reach deeper into
  the community to build resiliency and strengthening our ability to re
 spond to disaster.\n\n\nWe'll be discussing where we've been, where we
 're at, and where we're going. All members in good standing are eligib
 le to vote, and members can run for the Board. There are 10 positions
