SUMMARY:Vancouver Fix-It Collective's Everything Fix-It Event - A Coll
aboration with Frameworq and Maker Mobile
DESCRIPTION:This event takes place on traditional, unceded, occupied a
ncestral homelands of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the xÊ·mÉ
 ™Î¸kÊ·É™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and SÉ™l̓ílwÉ™taÊ
”/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. As settlers uninvited to
these lands we as organizers acknowledge that we are unable to do ant
i-racist work without using its resources and are complicit in a colon
ial system that perpetuates violence against Indigenous Peoples. We wa
nt to extend meaningful solidarity by fighting against the ongoing gen
ocide, environmental racism, and violence of the indigenous people in
these lands.\nBring your own cup ....and container! We will have water
, and tea available, and some healthy & nutritious snacks, but in the
name of #zerowaste and epic love of nature, we want to encourage the u
se of re-usable items.\nIf you are coming, *please* tell us what you p
lan to bring, by posting in the event, so we can ensure we have the ri
ght tools, and such available, and it gives us all time to brainstorm
as a group (those others coming can see too!)\n---- Do you have broken
stuff at home you've been waiting all summer to repair.....?! Do you
have a knack for fixing things and want to share your skills?\nBring y
our items, and your creative spirits. We’ll help each other repair,
re-purpose and renew broken items , whether we're skilled in this fiel
d or not, there's opportunity to learn, share, and fix!\nFixing keeps
waste out of the landfill, builds our shared capacity to live in a reg
enerative way...plus it's a great excuse to just hang out and meet our
neighbours!\nThis round we are pleased to partner up again with Maker
Mobile *and* Frameworq to encourage a diversity of fixes!\nTextile fi
xing will be in the community centre, and for all non-textile related
fixes we'll have Maker Mobile's Workshop on Wheels parked out front! (
see photos from our first event to get a feel for this magical worksho
 p on wheels!)\nhttp://frameworq.ca/ http://www.makermobile.org/\nBy th
e way....this event isn't only about experts and people who have thing
s to fix.... while it has that aspect, you certainly don't have to be
either.....it's also about coming together, sharing what skills we do
have and working together to fix things - learning with each other. Wh
en we don't know, we can always look it up online! It's ultimately abo
ut empowering ourselves, debunking some of those myths around fixing i
tems, building community, and sharing in this life on this planet, tog
ether. :)\nHope to see you there!\nhashtag - vanfixit Instagram/ Twitt

en you can and stay as long as you like! (though the earlier the bette
r so we have time to assess and fix :))\nWhere Gordon Neighbourhood Ho
