SUMMARY:Surrey Interfaith Pilgrimage
DESCRIPTION:The Surrey Interfaith Pilgrimage takes place on Sunday, Fe
 bruary 7, 2016 the final day of United Nations World Interfaith Harmon
 y Week.\nThe purpose of the event is to bring people from diverse back
 grounds and worldviews together to affirm our collective commitment to
  building peace and understanding in our community.\nThe full distance
  of the pilgrimage is 16.3km. Pilgrims are welcome to join in at any p
 oint along the way, or to simply participate in the start, lunch or di
 nner stops. Pilgrims should be physically fit enough to walk whatever 
 distance they choose to complete.\nLunch and dinner are provided and w
 e will have food and water stops along the way. All pilgrims are respo
 nsible for any additional food, water or supplies they may need.\nPilg
 rims are also encouraged to arrange for their own transportation back 
 to the start point if they need to return to their vehicle after the p
 ilgrimage.\nPilgrims are encouraged to dress appropriately for the wea
 ther and to carry a cell phone for safety. Maps and emergency contact 
 information will be provided to pilgrims at the start of the pilgrimag
 e.\nThe following is an outline of the day:\n9:30am: Gather at the Thi
 en Ton Buddhist Temple (17192 â€“ 96 Avenue). The Buddhist community i
 s celebrating New Years on this day so the Temple will be very busy la
 ter in the day. Pilgrims are encouraged to park in the Tynehead Park p
 arking lot across 96th Avenue. Washrooms are available.\n9:45am: We wi
 ll participate in s short ceremony with a representative of the Thien 
 Ton Buddhist Temple, exchanging blessings for peace and understanding.
 \n10:00am: The pilgrimage will begin promptly at 10:00am with a short 
 walk through the meditation garden at the Temple. We will head west on
  96th Avenue, then south on 156th Street.\n11:00am (approx): Rest stop
  at Northwood United Church (8855 â€“ 156 Street). Washrooms and water
  available. We will continue south on 156th Street and then turn west 
 on 84th Avenue.\n12:30pm: Lunch at Laxmi Narayana Hindu Mandir (8321 â
 €“ 140 Street). On arrival at the Mandir, pilgrims are encouraged to s
 pend a few moments in the upstairs worship space. A small ceremony may
  take place. The Mandir will provide a full lunch. Washrooms available
 .\n1:30pm: We will head west through the trails at the south end of Be
 ar Creek Park, emerging at King George Boulevard and 84th Avenue. We w
 ill continue west on 84th Avenue and turn south on 132nd Street.\n2:00
 pm (approx): Rest stop at Canadian Singh Sabha Gurdwara (8115 â€“ 132 
 Street). Water and washrooms available. We will continue south down 13
 2nd Street and turn west on 72nd Avenue.\n2:30pm (approx): Rest stop a
 t Surrey Jamea Muslim Masjid (7220 â€“ 124 Street) or St. Matthewâ€™s 
 Church across the street. Water and washrooms available. We will conti
 nue west on 72nd Avenue and head south on 122nd Street. The entrance t
 o the back of the Gurdwara parking lot is approximately 2 blocks south
  on 122nd Street on the west. Walk across the parking lot to the Gurdw
 ara.\n3:00pm (approx): Pilgrimage ends at the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara
  (7050 â€“ 120 Street). There will be short closing ceremony. Pilgrims
  are welcome to rest as long as they like and stay for dinner provided
