DESCRIPTION:Setting the Context for Change Exploring the Pathways to E
 cological Sustainability\n\nExplore the cultural and economic causes o
 f the various Global Crises. We investigate key underlying western val
 ues, beliefs and institutions, and the blocks to social change. Is the
  fundamental root cause of our global crises over-population, personal
 /spiritual, political, lack of efficiency in our systems, or instituti
 onal – the growth economy? This exploration leads to understanding t
 he possibilities for a positive future.\n \nCOURSE HIGHLIGHTS\n\nGain
  a comprehensive overview of the forces that have created both the glo
 bal ecological crises and the global social justice crisis.\nLearn too
 ls to better analyze our situation.\nGain a deeper grasp of the instit
 utional and systemic changes necessary for dealing with the global cri
 ses.\n\n \nKathryn Cholette has a BA in Anthropology and Sociology, S
 FU, and a Master of Liberal Studies, SFU, where she explored instituti
 onal and ideological pathways to sustainability.  She has Social Serv
 ice Worker Certificate, a Permaculture Design Certificate, and studied
  New Economics at Schumacher College.   Kathryn has been an activist
  for 25 years, first focusing on social justice, Bioregionalism, and g
 reen cities, and more recently on political ecology and New Economics.
  She is a Left-Green who served as the Federal Leader of the Green Par
 ty of Canada from 1988-1990.  She co-coordinated the Tin Wis Coalitio
 n of First Nations, unions, and environmental groups; worked with Vanc
 ouver’s New City Network; edited the Green Cities Section of the nat
 ional magazine New City.  Presently, Kathryn works with Village Vanc
 ouver ‘Transition Initiative’ and the New City Institute.\n$75 ($
