SUMMARY:*Plastic Recycling (and Potluck) in Kits Village - TONIGHT!
DESCRIPTION:The holiday season usually means that we end up with more
packaging material than usual. While cardboard and paper easily can be
recycled through Vancouver’s blue bin system, many of us wonder wha
t to do with Styrofoam blocks, Styrofoam peanuts, and soft plastics.\n
  \nPacific Mobile Depots (www.pacificmobiledepots.com) recycle most p
lastics. They have a monthly depot at the Britannia Communtiy Centre o
n Commercial Dr., but they also pick up from neighbourhood groups.\n
\nKits Village will arrange a pick-up in Kits for Friday January 20th,
2012. The plastics will be collected on Thursday January 19. The coll
ection will take place at Mary’s place from 6:30-8:30pm (exact addre
ss and directions will be sent out to those who RSVP). There will be a
Kits Village neighbourhood potluck the same evening starting at 6:30p
 m. Please come by and drop off your plastics and/or share a meal with
neighbours.\n \nIn order to prepare for this event please start savin
g your plastics today! I have an electronic information sheet with a l
ist of plastics that can be recycled through this project. I do not se
em to be able to attach it here so e-mail me if you want a copy sent t
o you. The website above also has a list of the plastic categories. Al
l plastics have to be clean and dry and sorted (or at least easy to se
parate). The cost per person will depend on how many people participat
e and how much plastics we collect, but will range from $2-5.\n \nPle
ase RSVP by sending an e-mail to hansen@zoology.ubc.ca by Sunday Janua
ry 15. Include an estimate of how much plastics you will contribute, i
.e. less than half a garbage bag, half a garbage bag, a full garbage b
ag or more than a garbage bag (but make sure to focus on plastics that
cannot be recycled through the city program). Feel free to pass this
message on to others who may be interested. Also, don't hesitate to co
ntact me if you have questions.\n\nFor more information visit http://v
