SUMMARY:*Plastic Recycling in Kits
DESCRIPTION:The last Kits Village recycling event (in mid March) was v
 ery successful with about 15 people attending. We gathered about 15 me
 dium sized garbage bags (yes that is about one bag per person!). In ot
 her words we managed to divert a significant amount of stuff from the 
 wastestream!\nThe April plastic recycling event will happen on Thursda
 y April 19th. Currently, we accept the following categories of plastic
 s: 1) soft plastics, i.e. any plastic bags, wraps or packaging, 2) har
 d plastics, i.e. any hard plastics, but with metal parts and paper rem
 oved, 3) styrofoam blocks, 4) styrofoam containers, i.e. cups and food
  take out containers, 5) styrofoam peanuts and other \"soft\" styrofoa
 m, 6) wax lined beverage containers, 7) milk cartons (separate from ot
 her beverage containers), 8) foil lined bags packaging and wraps. We m
 ay be able to accept other things such as scrap metal, glass and paper
  in the future, but for now we will focus on plastics.\nHere is how yo
 u can help if you would like to participate:\nBEFORE YOU ARRIVE: 1) Pl
 ease RSVP BEFORE April 15 on Village Vancouver’s website. This is im
 portant because we will not be able to request the pickup until at lea
 st 10 people RSVP. 2) Sort your plastics into the above eight categori
 es. If you bring items that you do not know how to sort, please put th
 ose into a separate bag as well. 3) Only bring items that are CLEAN, i
 .e. no food products left in any bags or containers, beverage containe
 rs will have to be rinsed well and aired out, ESPECIALLY MILK CONTAINE
 RS).\nWHEN YOU ARRIVE: 1) put your plastics into the appropriate categ
 ory bag. Ask organizers for help if you do not know how to sort when y
 ou arrive. 2) give the organizer the recycling fee. Everyone who bring
 s plastics will pay a minimum of $3 for their plastics. If you fill on
 e medium sized garbage bag, you will pay $5. Anything above one garbag
 e bag is $7. This way we will be able to pay the depot at least $30 fo
 r the pickup and cover expenses of collection bags etc. \nIf you have
