SUMMARY:Limit Climate Change and Stay Healthy (free, but register in a
 dvance)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a discussion on the effects of anthropogenic g
reenhouse gas emissions on climate, how long these effects will persis
t, and what needs to be done to limit global warming to safe levels. L
earn how to reduce climate change and become healthier by doing so, an
d hear about the world’s first (cost, barrier, advertisement, and ca
rbon) free university (NextGenU.org), and its training on climate chan
ge and health.\nWhat: Limit Climate Change and Stay Healthy by Drs. K
 irsten Zickfeld, SFU and Erica Frank, UBC\nWhen: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.
 m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012\nWhere: Rm C130, UBC Robson Square,
  800 Robson Street, Vancouver, BC\nRegister: www.limitclimatechange.e

ream: www.pics.uvic.ca/events.php\n \nDr. Kirsten Zickfeld is an as
sistant professor in the Department of Geography in the Faculty of Env
ironment at SFU, and an adjunct professor in the School of Earth and O
cean Sciences at UVic. She is a climate scientist with a particular in
terest in anthropogenic climate change. Her current research focuses o
n the interactions between climate and the carbon cycle and the centur
y-scale response of the climate system to greenhouse gas emissions. Sh
e is also interested in the emissions implications of long-term climat
e targets such as limiting global mean warming to below 2 °C, a clima
te target adopted by many countries.\n \nDr. Erica Frank is a profes
sor in the School of Population and Public Health, and the Department
of Family Practice at UBC. Dr. Frank is a Canada Research Chair in Pre
ventive Medicine and Population Health. She specializes in preventive
medicine, and her research emphasizes the degree to which a clinicianâ
€™s positive health habits influence patients’ positive health habit
 s. Dr. Frank is also the Founder and President of Next Generation Univ
ersity (NextGenU.org, the world’s first free university), and Past P
