ARAVAN TO CUBA? This summer for the\n23rd time, the Pastors for Peace
Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba will\nchallenge the United States gover
nment’s economic and travel blockade\non Cuba, that has been imposed
on the Cuban people for over 50 years.\nThe Caravan will travel throu
gh up to 140 cities in the U.S. and\nCanada, raising awareness about t
he U.S. blockade and gathering\nhumanitarian aid to take to Cuba. Afte
r two weeks of travelling\nthrough the U.S. there is a blockade bustin
g border crossing into\nMexico. Caravanistas will then travel through
Mexico and depart for\nnine days in Cuba, participating in a variety o
f educational and\ncultural events. This year marks the 20th anniversa
ry of the Pastors\nfor Peace Caravans to Cuba. Over the past 20 years
thousands of\nparticipants and over 30,000 tons of humanitarian aid ha
ve been\nbrought to Cuba, building a ‘people-to-people’ foreign po
licy based on\nmutual respect,\nsolidarity and friendship between the
people of the U.S., Canada and\nCuba. This Caravan also commemorates R
ev. Lucius Walker, Jr., the\nfounding director of Pastors for Peace, w
ho died peacefully in\nSeptember 2010.\nIn British Columbia, Canada, t
he BC Aid Network for Cuba is coordinating a 6 stop tour along with va
rious local organizations,\nwhich will include aid collection and even
ts in Comox, Nanaimo,\nVictoria, Kamloops, Vancouver, as well as the b
order crossing where\norganizers from across BC and Washington State w
ill converge to ensure\nthe aid crosses into the U.S. Many of the tour
stops are in new\nlocations which have recently become active with th
e Caravan!\nAll BC events will feature special guest speaker Bill Hack
well from Oakland, California!\nFor more information or to join the Pa
stors for Peace Caravan please visit: http://www.pastorsforpeace.org\n
