SUMMARY:*Introduction to Canning (low cost workshop; FREE for Seniors)
DESCRIPTION:Now's the perfect time to do some canning! This three hour
  hands on Village Vancouver ElderGreens workshop is suitable for begin
 ners or those needing to refresh their canning skills. Instructor Cait
 lin Dorward will cover all the basics of boiling water bath canning wi
 th an emphasis on Fall flavours. All materials are provided; and parti
 cipants will take home a jar of your own creation and a handout coveri
 ng all material presented in the workshop. We'll have the Pt. Grey Vil
 lage community seed library present - pick up up some free seeds for y
 our garden or swap or donate some seeds.\r\n\r\nCost: By donation ($0 
 - $10 suggested), plus a $5 materials fee. Free for Seniors (50 and ov

 \r\n\r\nABERTHAU GARDEN PROJECT\r\nLocated behind the Mansion, just of
 f of NW Marine Dr, and hosted by Village Vancouver, the garden include
 s VV’s Demonstration Permaculture Garden, the WPG Preschool Garden a
 nd art/garden projects by artists-in-residence LocoMotoArt: Laura Lee 
 Coles and Rob Scharein. Emphasizing permaculture design elements, incl
 uding a small hugelkultur, an herb spiral, planting pollinator attract
 ants, and saving open pollinated seeds, the garden offers fun, inclusi
 ve social, educational, culinary and cultural activities for community
  members. Enjoy free or low-cost Wednesday evening cooking, fermenting
  and preserving demonstrations, including sauerkraut, kefir, and taste
 s of Korea and India, gardening workshops like early summer gardening,
  native edibles walks and the seed savers club.\r\n\r\nIn the garden, 
 newer gardeners garden collaboratively alongside more experienced gard
 eners at our Saturday work parties, providing a learning experience fo
