SUMMARY:Free Breakfast: Building Community Connectivity (Metro Van Eve
 nt)
DESCRIPTION:You can just show up, or preregister just by providing you
r name and email.  They'll make a recycled name tag for you, if you r
egister.\nThe next Metro Vancouver Sustainability Community Breakfast
 will take place Wednesday, May 9, 2012 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Briti
sh Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) downtown Vancouver campus a
t 555 Seymour Street, Vancouver.\nIf you asked community leaders to id
entify their top current social issues, what would they say? In 2011,
Vancouver Foundation conducted a survey and found that the biggest con
cern was a growing sense of disconnection and isolation among people l
iving in Metro Vancouver. That increasingly, beyond a handful of famil
y and friends, we are growing indifferent to each other and we are les
s engaged in the life of our community.\nJoin us to hear how Vancouver
Foundation is taking a leadership role in creating sustainable social
networks that will help rebuild bonds of trust, spark civic engagemen
t, and harness the power of individuals and neighbourhoods to work tog
ether to improve their communities.\nSpeakers:\nCatherine Clement, Vic
e President, Public Engagement and CommunicationsLidia Kemeny, Directo
r, Granting and Community Initiatives, Vancouver FoundationAl Etmanski
