DESCRIPTION:The Earth Day Parade & Celebration is being organized by s
 tudents from the Vancouver region as a part of \"Youth for Climate Jus
 tice Now\" with the support of a variety of local organizations.\nIt i
 s our hope to recapture the roots of earth day as a celebration and a 
 vehicle for environmental change. The parade event will be a celebrati
 on of positive change with a focus on global warming and social justic
 e. Please bring your costumes, your art, your bike, your strollers, yo
 ur friends, your grandmother... you get the idea. We will be marching 
 up Commercial Drive with large colourful banners, costumes, pedal-powe
 red floats, dances, and chants focusing on the effects of climate chan
 ge. We are asking all participants to help us with this! Dress up in v
 ibrant clothing, create large banners with messages; let your imaginat
 ion run wild.\nOn the morning of April 22nd, 2011 at 11am. We will mee
 t at Grandview Hwy. and Commercial Dr. just North of Commercial-Broadw
 ay Skytrain station. The parade will proceed northwards on Commercial 
 Drive and on to Brittania Secondary School’s field, where we will be
  hosting an earth day festival.\nThe festival will feature activities 
 such as school/art competitions, music, a family tent, hands on activi
 ties, and guest speakers.\nThis is Vancouver’s first Earth Day Celeb
 ration organized by youth for all youth and the families of Metro Vanc
 ouver. We hope to raise awareness and show our concern about the effec
 ts of climate change as it is at the forefront of environmental issues
  today. Youth are inheriting the world and feel the need to take actio
 n to not just make Vancouver, but the global community a healthier and
  better place to live in.\nWe want Vancouver's youth to be part of the
  international movement to stop global warming. We need to act now. Gl
 obal temperatures can't rise 2 degrees! That would be a tipping point.
  Let's do something about it.\nThis will be the most fun you ever had 
 saving the planet. :) Please spread the word and invite your friends t
