 ommunity currency pioneer and promoter Michael Linton for an enlighten
 ing, interactive presentation where you will learn about:\n-How money 
 works, where it comes from, and how the way in which money is designed
  can affect everything from the economy through the environment and th
 e way in which people interact with one another.\n-How community curre
 ncies can help address the economic, social, environmental and other c
 hallenges faced by communities everywhere.\n-The history of community 
 currencies from Guernsey in the early 1800's through the Great Depress
 ion and to the present day.\n-Different kinds of community currencies 
 and how they work.\n-How you can get involved in making community curr
 encies a reality here in Vancouver!\n \nAbout the presenters:\n-Micha
 el Linton of Comox, BC is the inventor of the LETS (Local Exchange Tra
 ding System) model of mutual credit, a type of local currency that has
  spread thoughout the world since it was first launched in the Comox V
 alley in 1983. He is also the founder of the Community Way model of co
 mmunity currency that is currently being used in the Comox Valley, and
  which is in the process of being launched in Nelson and Vancouver.\n-
 Jordan Bober is a member of Village Vancouver's Local Economy Network 
 and is currently involved in a project to launch a community currency 
 in Vancouver. His background in community currencies comes from resear
 ch conducted for his Master's thesis in Economics on the subject.\n \
 nGetting to the Student Union Building (SUB):\nThe easiest way to get 
 to the SUB by public transit is to take the 99 B-Line on Broadway stra
 ight through to its terminus at the UBC Bus Loop. The SUB is the build
 ing just after the UBC Recreation Centre, the big building to the lef
 t of the bus stop.\n \nWhen looking for the room number, please be aw
 are that odd and even numbered rooms are on opposite sides of the buil
