SUMMARY:Agriculture and Climate Change: A Search for Low Greenhouse Ga
 s Food
DESCRIPTION:Agriculture and Climate Change: A Search for Low Greenhous
e Gas Food\n\nWith the change of seasons come locally available foods.
For example, spring yields rhubarb; summer ushers in a bounty of frui
ts and vegetables; apples rule autumn while winter supplies root veget
ables. Imagine if all this were to change.\n\nBy 2050, global agro-eco
systems are projected to undergo rising temperatures and CO2 levels, e
rradic water availability and an increase of extreme weather events. J
oin presenters Tara Moreau and Tegan Adams who will introduce the scie
nce of climate change, examine the projected impacts on farming, highl
ight solutions for regional agriculture and explore individual actions
for a low carbon diet.\n\nWhere: SPEC Demonstration Centre (2150 Mapl
 e Street, Vancouver BC) (www.spec.bc.ca)\n\nWhen: 10 July 2010 (2-4 PM
 )\n\nRegistration is $10.\n\nRegistration is available at www.spec.rou
ndtablelive.org/events. Note: space is limited to 30 participants to a
llow for interactive dialogue. All funds go to SPEC’s School Gardens
Project, which promotes sustainable food choices through hands-on agr
iculture experiences in Vancouver area schools.\n\n\n\nSupporters:\n\n
