 e neighbourhood means to Vancouver citizens.\nHow can neighbourhoods b
 est contribute to the evolution of a sustainable Vancouver?\nHow can t
 he City help neighbourhoods become more sustainable and livable?\nThe 
 ProgramSince the idea of sustainable development emerged as an interna
 tional goal 30 years ago, it has been embraced by cities around the gl
 obe as a local imperative. How do we apply these ambitious aspirationa
 l goals at a neighbourhood level to achieve critical sustainability ou
 tcomes?\nCommissioners will provide an introduction and overview of th
 eir initiative: A Sustainable City of Sustainable Neighbourhoods.The h
 ighlight of the evening is a series of presentations in the Pecha Kuch
 a format by representatives of some wonderful local organizations enga
 ged in contributing to the livability and sustainability of their neig
 hbourhoods.\nThe presenters’ themes represent some of the features t
 hat are essential to a sustainable neighbourhood. We invite your ideas
  about how we evolve as a city of sustainable neighbourhoods, to help 
 set the framework for the evolving conversation.\nHow would you comple
 te the statement: “A neighbourhood isn’t sustainable without  ___
 __________ .”?\nThis event is the public portion of a symposium that
  continues on Saturday. Community organizations that work at neighbour
 hood and city-wide levels to enhance Vancouver’s livability, will br
 ainstorm strategies and actions for collaboration on a sustainable fut
