DESCRIPTION:All welcome to this week-long learning and networking even
 t. Workshops are organized around 3 program streams: social, environme
 nt and economic. Interactive workshops provide participants with pract
 ical knowledge and skills.\nVillage Vancouver is a key partner in Lan
 gara College's Sustainable Communities Summer School with our 2013 
 Transition School offering more than a dozen workshops on a wide range
  of topics.\nParticipants can attend one or more practical, hands on w
 orkshops and pick up tangible new skills in the areas such as Composti
 ng, Introductory Permaculture Design, Balcony and Container Gardening,
  Urban Beekeeping, and Gardening for Year Round Harvest, while at our 
 community resiliency workshops participants can learn about Building R
 esilient Neighbourhood Food Networks, How to Create a Village in a Cit
 y, and Community Currencies.\nSeveral \"big picture\" offerings, inclu
 ding Introduction to the Transition Town Movement, Ecological Economic
 s, Setting the Context for Social Change, A History of the Future of F
